Established as a qualified charity in 1991, the Library Trust Fund of Medfield is the only privately supported endowment for the Memorial Public Library. Gifts to the Library Trust Fund are invested to generate income in perpetuity to be used to enhance the Library’s collection. Since its inception, hundreds of gifts have been made to the Trust Fund, including:  

  • Donations from individuals, families and businesses
  • Bequests under wills and trusts
  • Memorials in honor of individuals
Why Support the Library’s Endowment? Over 200,000 items from the Medfield Library collection go into circulation annually. Keeping the collection current and up-to-date is expensive, making contributions from a variety of sources essential to the Library. Funding has been known to vary significantly from year to year.  A healthy Trust Fund helps to ensure the stability of funding for this important resource in our community. In the past, gifts from the Trust fund have measurably improved the children, young adult, large print, books on tape, and CD collections. The Trust can continue to make modest annual gifts at its present endowment. With growth, the Fund can be a resource to help make exciting new media possible to more and more Library patrons! Your Gift is Important to the Library! When you give to the Trust Fund, your tax-deductible gift is invested to provide a legacy of support for the library. Most of the endowment is unrestricted, meaning that gifts can be used for whatever materials are currently of greatest benefit to the Library and its patrons. But, a gift may also specify a purpose. For example a restricted gift might designate that the income be directed to a particular collection of materials or targeted to a specific age group.
