Computers, Spaces, and Other Resources
The Children’s Room has four internet computers which are free to use. There is a play area with a kitchen set, puppet stage, and train table. The activity room is for story times and craft programs, and can be reserved by groups when available. There are many tables and seating for research and study, and two display cases for the sharing of individual children’s collections.
Children’s Programs
All Children’s programs are FREE thanks to the generosity of the Friends of the Library.
Storytime and Performers:
We offer weekday drop-in storytimes with no registration required. Pattycake Place is for ages 0-2 and Book Bunch for ages 2 – 4. There are 3 or more entertainers such as storytellers, musicians, magicians, science and/or animal shows during each session. Book discussion groups are organized on demand.
Summer Programs:
We participate in the Massachusetts state summer reading program every summer which encourages reading by using recording logs and prizes. We offer daily do-it-yourself crafts in our activity room, related to the state theme-of-the-year, as well as our regular storytime schedule. We make school summer reading lists available, and stock extra copies of these books.
Other Programs:
We offer holiday crafts for three weeks each December. Family Do-It-Yourself, Drop-In Crafts and Games are available to families every Saturday from 11:00 – 3:00 throughout the school year. Girl Scout troops hold story and craft sessions on dates of their choice.
